SUMMARY:Summer Meeting - HomeAid Hawai‘i
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our upcoming June meeting\, where we’ll feature a
special presentation by HomeAid Hawaiʻi.\n\nHomeAid Hawaiʻi is a nonpro
fit developer advancing innovative solutions to one of Hawaiʻi’s most u
rgent challenges: delivering deeply affordable housing for households earn
ing at or below 30% of Area Median Income (AMI). Their work focuses on the
critical “missing rung” in Hawaiʻi’s housing ladder—serving ALIC
E households (Asset Limited\, Income Constrained\, Employed)\, as well as
individuals and families experiencing or at risk of homelessness.\n\nThrou
gh a nonprofit development model and strong public‑private partnerships\
, HomeAid Hawaiʻi brings together government agencies\, private sector pa
rtners\, and community organizations to unlock land opportunities\, reduce
development costs\, and share resources. Their approach demonstrates a pr
actical and replicable pathway to making deeply affordable housing both fe
asible and scalable across the state.\n\nMuch of this work is currently be
ing advanced through the State’s Kauhale Initiative\, with increasing i
nterest from counties exploring similar approaches. A key factor in these
projects has been access to land—whether through donation or reduced cos
t—which can significantly improve feasibility. One example that will be
highlighted is the Alana Ola Pono Kauhale\, where land contribution playe
d a pivotal role in achieving deeply affordable rents.\n\nDuring this sess
ion\, you can expect to learn about:\n\n HomeAid Hawaiʻi’s nonprofit d
evelopment model\n Innovative strategies to address homelessness and hous
ing insecurity\n Opportunities for industry and community involvement to
help expand these efforts\n\nThis program will be especially valuable for
members interested in land use\, development\, housing policy\, real estat
 e economics\, and public‑private partnerships.\n\nWe encourage you to jo
in us for what promises to be an insightful and meaningful discussion on s
olutions that are making a real difference in Hawaiʻi’s housing landsca
pe.\n\nWe look forward to seeing you there.\n\nAbout our Presenter\n\nKimo
