Aloha Chapter Members Attend Land Economics Gathering in Montréal — The Torch is Passed for 2026

The Lambda Alpha International Aloha Chapter had a strong presence at the 2025 Land Economics Gathering in Montréal, with seven chapter members in attendance (a record for Hawai‘i!). Among them were many first-time attendees, all eager to learn, connect, and gain inspiration as we prepare to host the 2026 Gathering in Honolulu.

The Montréal Gathering offered a rich program of thought-provoking presentations, site visits, and discussions that highlighted innovative approaches to land use, urban planning, and sustainable development. For our Hawai‘i-based delegation, it was a valuable opportunity to experience the spirit and structure of the Gathering firsthand and deepen our understanding of what makes these events so impactful and meaningful.

The Gathering culminated in the official passing of the torch to the Aloha Chapter, marking the beginning of our chapter’s role as host for next year’s event.  We accepted the honor with gratitude and enthusiasm, energized by the responsibility and opportunity to showcase Hawai‘i’s unique perspectives on land, culture, and community.

We left Montréal feeling deeply inspired and ready to continue our planning efforts with renewed purpose. Mahalo to the LAI Gatherings Committee and the entire LAI community for your hospitality and guidance. We look forward to welcoming the LAI community to Honolulu in 2026!

Now, we’re calling on our Aloha Chapter members to join us in shaping this incredible opportunity. Whether you’re interested in programming, logistics, sponsorship, or cultural engagement, there’s a place for you to contribute. If you have experience in marketing and/or digital media, we’d especially love your assistance. Help us make the 2026 Land Economics Gathering a true reflection of our values, our place, and our people.
